Virginia Lee (Patterson) Coffey was born on February 22, 1940 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Samuel Oscar Patterson and Ellen Abigail (Johnson) Patterson. She passed from this life on October 8, 2024 in Ardmore, Oklahoma at 84 years.
Virginia attended Wynnewood High School and graduated in 1958. After graduating she started her career as a secretary for various firms and companies including the Garvin County Courthouse, Personal Attorneys, and she would eventually retire from Bankruptcy Court. Virginia attended the First United Methodist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and was a faithful volunteer of the Pauls Valley Samaritans Pantry and even won a trophy at a Groundhog Day event that she was always so involved in.
Virginia enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, monogramming, bedazzling things, doing crossword puzzles, tending to her flower beds, and making different southern dishes and desserts, such as turtles and fudge. All those things were hobbies, but her life was spent being there for her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. There was not an event that "Granny Stitch" missed. "Mamaw" and "Granny Stitch" were names given to her by people who loved her, including her grandchildren's friends because she showed up for everything and was their biggest cheerleader.
Virginia always taught her family, "Do your best at whatever you do" and "It is what it is". Virginia was loved by so many people and will be missed by them all.
Virginia was survived by her Daughters, Michelle Gamble and husband Bobby of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Heather West and husband Shane of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Kayla Gamble, Dakota West, Cree West, and Abby Weast; Great-Grandchildren, Riggin West, Creek West, Magnolia West, Bodie Koone, and Flossie Lester; Brother, Fred Patterson and wife Kim; Nieces and Nephews, Kena Lyn Stanley, Peter Patterson, Michael Patterson, Barbara Ann Landers, Carmin Garcia; and a host of other friends and family members.
Virginia was preceded in death by her Parents, Samuel Oscar Patterson and Ellen Abigail (Johnson) Patterson; Son, Thomas Blake Coffey; and Brother, Oscar Clifton Patterson.
