Tonia Marie (Gibson) Sloan, 45, of Stratford, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2025. She was born on December 7, 1979, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Chester Gibson and Catherine Amos.
Tonia grew up in Stratford, where she attended school and built lifelong friendships. On July 4, 2003, she married the love of her life, Chris Frederick Sloan, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Together, they shared a beautiful life centered on family and simple joys.
A devoted homemaker, Tonia dedicated her life to caring for her daughter, Kacey Gibson, and later found joy in her grandchildren. She also poured her energy into various jobs she loved, including working in a Sulphur restaurant, at an onion factory, and hauling hay. Tonia had a strong work ethic but often reminded others, with a smile, "Don't work too hard."
She enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming, and playing softball—especially as a pitcher. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, where she was known for her delicious chicken and dumplings and enchiladas. She never let anyone go hungry, always giving generously to those in need and often donating food to help others.
Tonia's greatest joys were her family, her daughter, and her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kindness, her giving heart, and her willingness to help anyone, anytime.
Tonia is survived by her husband, Chris Sloan; Mother, Catherine Amos; Brothers, Chester Gibson, Terry Gibson; Sisters, Stacey Gibson, Connie Bathrop; Grandchildren, Mason Sweeten and Winter Stephens.
Tonia is preceded in death by her daughter, Kacey Gibson and her father, Chester Gibson.
