Tommie S. Hackney

Tommie S. Hackney was born to John H.L. and Alzie Mae (Meredith) Fullerton on February 23, 1936 and entered eternal life on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at her home in Lindsay with her loving family by her side. Tommie grew up with five sisters, and one can only imagine the laughter and fun of that. On January 06, 1975, Tommie married Roy E. Hackney in Criner, OK, and they were married for 38 years until Roy’s death in 2013. They worked together for many years operating their vending business for the Blind Association. Tommie also enjoyed volunteering as a docent for the Murray-Lindsay Mansion in Erin Springs, Oklahoma. Roy would accompany her at times, and Tommie’s only complaint was that Roy would jump the gun and be giving a history lesson to the tourists before they arrived at the appropriate place on the tour. Tommie enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She was a fabulous cook and reportedly could fry the best chicken and cook the best red beans. The highlight of her life was in spending time with and loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tommie was truly a woman to be admired by how she led her everyday life, and her presence will be sorely missed. Tommie is survived by: Daughter – Anita Louise (Whitehead) Gosnell Daughter-in-Law - Debbie Whitehead 6 Grandchildren – Larry Whitehead, Chris Whitehead, Cassie Whitehead, Jared Gosnell and wife Amanda, Jesse Gosnell and fiancée Lisa Funderburk and Justin Gosnell 12 Great-Grandchildren Tommie is preceded in death by her husband Roy Hackney; parents, John and Alzie Fullerton; son Timothy Lloyd Whitehead; and 5 sisters, Johnnie Mae Barnett, Irma Dee Archer, Billie Ruth Bryant, Donna Faye Archer and Bobbie June Sanders. The family will be present to receive friends and family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 01 at the funeral home. Funeral services for Tommie will be held on Friday, July 02, at 2:00 p.m. in the Iron Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Barry Clagg officiating. Interment will be in the Dibble Cemetery.
