Sylvia Opal Cole

Sylvia Opal (Johnson) Cole was welcomed into this world on March 6, 1930 by her parents, Henry and Maggie (McCall) Johnson in Foster, Oklahoma. She was welcomed in to eternal life on March 1, 2012 by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 81 years. She attended school at Shady Grove, Pernell and Burrows High Schools. She married Dennis Cole on November 12, 1948. They lived in the Foster and Pernell communities all of their 56 years together. Sylvia kept busy raising her family, working in the garden, helping Dennis on the farm, going camping and bird watching. She enjoyed helping take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught VBS, Sunday School classes and Bible studies for many years. Her main goal in life was to try to make sure that her family and friends were ready to meet the Lord. In the past eight years since Dennis’ death she spent about 4 months of each year in Tennessee with her daughter Lea Anna and her family where she developed many close relationships. Her family learned of her cancer on January 31, 2012 and in 30 short days she was gone. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dennis, two brothers, Harlan and A. J. Johnson, three sisters, Ruby Ellis, Clara Bee Ramsey, and Ona Lee Johnson. She is survived by four daughters, Betty Coates of Oklahoma City, Mary Cole of Oklahoma City, Eva McConnell and her husband Steve of Pernell, and Lea Anna Curtis and her husband Kent of McEwen, TN. Also, 12 grandchildren, Jeremy Coates and wife Lenore, Heather Coates Kreeger and husband Colt, Eddie Coates and wife Teri, Brandon Coates and wife Meghan, Clint Easlon and wife Sheri, B. J. Easlon and wife Alicia, Anna Easlon Baker and husband Mark, Tara Easlon Redmon and husband Matthew, Evan McConnell and wife Susan, Steven McConnell and wife Maegan, Nathan Curtis and Neeka Curtis and 10 great-grandchildren, Ariel, Cayson and Mirana Easlon, Zachary and Coty Loftin, Elizabeth, Harlie and Abigail Redmon, Owen and Eli McConnell. She is also survived by four sisters, Virginia Newman and husband Wayne, Maggie Cross, Glynna Condit and husband Jim and Cynthia Ann Nooner and husband Edward and three brothers, Arnold Johnson and wife Wynema, Tom Johnson and wife Zora and Gary Johnson and wife Yvonne. She is also survived by her late husband’s brothers and sisters, Dugie Cole (deceased) and wife Patricia Cole-Seales, Don Cole and wife Madolyn, Dale Cole and wife Shirley, Darrell Cole and wife June, Darvis Cole and wife Phyllis, Dan Cole and wife Sue, Della Cobb and husband Gene, Delma Hall and husband Woodrow and Dewayne Cole and wife Carla. She had a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and other family and friends.
