Shirley Ann Motes

Shirley Ann Motes of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Boyd Elton and Thelma Pauline (Yearout) Goff on February 22, 1935 in McPherson, Kansas and passed from this life on September 24, 2022 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years old. Shirley grew up and attended school in McPherson, Kansas where she then went to work for Southwestern Bell her senior year of High School and continued employment there for five more years. In August of 1954, Shirley married the father of her two children, Jerry Lee Irons and in 1961 they were transferred to Denver, Colorado where they lived for 17 years. In March of 1977, Shirley married Owen Lewis Smith and later in April of 1977 moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. After their separation, Shirley met her husband, Otis Odell Motes and they were married in 1984 and were happily married until his passing in November of 1997. Shirley was very dedicated to her work and eventually retired in 1998 from the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma where she was a Switchboard Operator Supervisor. Growing up Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed oil painting, creating stained glass, and reading an abundance of romance novels. Shirley also had her heart invested in raising animals, including paint horses and many other animals. Mrs. Motes is survived by her son, Perry Lee Irons and wife Rebecca J. Perry Irons of Fort Collins, Colorado, her daughter, Sheri Harris of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and her step son, Jimmy Motes and wife Rita Motes of Edmond, Oklahoma. Mrs. Motes is survived by two grandchildren: Steven Lee Irons and wife Amanda Lee Irons of Loveland, Colorado, and Melissa Ann Irons and partner Michael Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. Motes is survived by three great grandchildren: Kenlee Ann Irons and Boyd Michael Irons of Loveland, Colorado and Lela Rose Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada. Among a long list of survivors is Mrs. Motes siblings, she has one brother and two sisters whom she is survived by: Gary Boyd Goff and wife Loretta Goff of Buckley, Washington, Joyce White of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and Carol Lee Powell and husband Kenneth Powell of Liberty, Missouri. Mrs. Motes was preceded in death by her parents Boyd and Thelma Goff, the father of her children Jerry Lee Irons, and her late husband, Otis Odell Motes.
