Obituary

Patricia Kay Price was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on January 6, 1945. She preferred to go by her middle name, Kay. She grew up in Pauls Valley and Southwestern Kansas. She met Rodney Drake in High School and they married at a young age. She and Rodney had three daughters, Debra, Lori Ann, and Rebecca. In 1969 Kay moved to Odessa, Texas to live near her Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Bill Sudbury while she attended Nursing School. She received an Associate's Degree and became a Registered Nurse. Kay worked at a hospital in Odessa and later went to work in a Doctor's office for 10 years. She became a school nurse to be able to spend her summers with her daughters. As a school nurse, Kay cared for children in Odessa, Fort Worth, Pearland, and Spring, Texas touching the lives of many children throughout her career. She once helped a child that was being bullied at a school for his long hair. She took him to get his haircut and made sure he had regular trips to the barber. Kay enjoyed music and loved to sing. She would play soothing music in her clinic at school every day. Many students would go to her clinic before school to listen to the music and some would say they were sick during the day just so they could spend time with her. The children really loved her and she was a blessing to many. She retired in 2009 due to health issue and then spent time crafting and visiting with friends and family.
