Nelson Edward Dodds, 82, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Elmore City, Oklahoma. Born on November 16, 1942, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to Joseph William Dodds and Mabel (Nelson) Dodds, Nelson's life was marked by a deep sense of commitment—to his family, his work, and the values he held dear.
Nelson spent his early years in Washington state, graduating from high school in Richland in 1960. He went on to earn a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Washington, eventually building a successful career as a metallurgical engineer. Known as a workaholic by those close to him, Nelson led by example and inspired many with his tireless work ethic and dedication. He found great fulfillment not only in his own accomplishments but in mentoring others and teaching the importance of hard work.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Nelson cherished the time he spent hunting with his father in his youth—a passion he carried throughout his life with his longtime friend and hunting and fishing buddy Chuck Matthews. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, and he enjoyed playing tennis from his high school years well into adulthood. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his loyal German Shorthaired Pointers, with whom he shared many memorable hunting trips over the years.
Above all else, Nelson's proudest achievements were his children and grandchildren. He treasured time spent with his family and took great joy in watching them grow, succeed, and carry forward the values he lived by.
Nelson's life was one of quiet strength, perseverance, and enduring love. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched and in the countless memories made along the way.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William Dodds and Mabel (Nelson) Dodds.
Nelson is survived by his Sons, Kenneth William Dodds, Charles Edward Dodds and wife Jenny, Joseph Neil Dodds; Grandchildren, Jacob Dodds, Joshua Dodds, Jeremy Dodds, Dallas Dodds, Rachel Dodds, James Dodds, and the mother of his children, Julianne Dodds.
