Linda "Kay" Lee Courtney was born on January 10, 1946, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Homer Buckner Minnick and Eula Wyoma (Mobley) Minnick. She passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in Purcell, Oklahoma, at the age of 80.
Kay was raised in the Satterwhite community and graduated from Pernell High School in 1963. During her school years, she enjoyed playing basketball. In 1963, she married James "Jim" Edward Courtney in Wewoka, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Elmore City, Oklahoma, where they built a life centered around family, faith, and cherished friendships.
Throughout her life, Kay was known for her strong work ethic and caring nature. She worked as a secretary for C&M Construction and, in her later years, opened her heart to care for the elderly. Her kindness, patience, and willingness to help others reflected the generous spirit she carried throughout her life.
Above all else, Kay treasured her family. She found joy in raising her children and watching them grow, and she especially loved cheering on her daughter from the stands during basketball games. Some of her happiest moments were spent caring for and enjoying time with her daughter Katrina, taking trips to Branson, and making wonderful memories with those she loved.
Kay was also known for her delicious home cooking. Her famous chocolate sheet cake and fried chicken were family favorites. She had a special way of making people feel welcome, and her home was a place where family and friends could always find warmth, laughter, and something good to eat.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially spending time with family and friends and playing cards with her dear friends Richard and Shirley Medford. Whether gathered around a table sharing stories and laughter or enjoying a quiet moment with her loved ones, Kay understood that life's greatest blessings were found in the people she held close.
Kay's greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She had a loving and generous heart and found happiness in being a constant source of comfort, encouragement, and love in their lives. Her family was her world, and the memories they made together will remain treasured gifts for generations to come.
Though she will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her family and friends, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Kay is survived by her Daughter, Mitzee Martin and husband Lance; Grandchildren, Gunner Martin, Tyler Martin, Madison Martin; Great-grandson, Stetson James Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
