Obituary

Laurie Hill Sloan, age 68, of Paoli, Oklahoma, passed away on March 13, 2026 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on November 22, 1957, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Joseph Hill and Lily Laverne (Johnson) Hill.
Laurie grew up in Catoosa, Oklahoma, where she attended Catoosa Public Schools and graduated in 1976. During her school years, she was active in the band, playing the clarinet in the marching band, and she also enjoyed singing and loved playing the piano. Known for her intelligence and caring nature, Laurie devoted much of her young life to helping care for her family during her mother's medical challenges.
She attended the University of Oklahoma for two years and later continued her education at Rose State College, where she earned an associate degree in Paralegal Studies later in life.
Laurie began her career with the United States Postal Service at the age of 27. She was a dedicated and hardworking employee who took great pride in her work. Over the course of nearly 40 years, she served in several roles and ultimately retired as the Postmaster of Pauls Valley on December 31, 2024. Her commitment to her job was well known—on occasion she even brought her son Josh along with her to work.
She was a faithful member of Paoli First Baptist Church and served her community as a member of the Paoli School Board.
Laurie had a deep love for genealogy and spent countless hours researching her family's history. She also enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises, and taking memorable vacations with her children, Joshua and Taylor. Her greatest joys in life were her children, her family, her career, and her beloved grand pups and grand kitties.
Laurie will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. Everyone who knew her loved her, and she was known for her sweetness and her love for the Lord. Her life was a testament to devotion—to her family, her work, her faith, and her community—and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Laurie is survived by her Son, Joshua Kyle Sloan of the home; Daughter, Taylor Lauren Sloan of Maysville, Oklahoma; Brothers, Bart Gregory Hill and wife Jessica of Amarillo, Texas, David Michael Hill of Canada; Bonus grandson, Zayn Hill; Niece and Nephews, Merah Rivers, Reece Hill, Heath Hill; Father of her children, Chris Sloan; and a host of other friends and family.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lily Hill.
