Obituary

Jerry Duane Dutton, affectionately known as Duane, passed from this life on Friday, October 16, 2026, in Elmore City, Oklahoma, at the age of 87.
Duane was born on March 16, 1939, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to Ruben Melton Dutton and Roberta Mae (Riley) Dutton. He grew up in the Satterwhite community, where he attended school before continuing his education at Elmore City High School. During his school years, Duane enjoyed playing basketball and running track. He graduated from Elmore City High School in 1957.
On September 26, 1959, Duane married the love of his life, Louise, in Foster, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life centered around family, hard work, and lasting memories. They were blessed with two children, Anita McDaniel and Jerry Glenn Dutton. Duane and Louise shared nearly 59 years of marriage before her passing in 2018.
Duane proudly served his country in the National Guard and later in the Air National Guard. Following his military service, he worked at the Wynnewood Refinery, where he held various positions throughout his career, including insulation work. He was a hardworking man who believed in doing a job right and taking pride in an honest day's work.
Duane had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and simply being outside. He was also talented with his hands and had a love for woodworking and wood carving. His hobbies reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for doing things with his own two hands.
Duane was a member of Satterwhite Missionary Baptist Church, and his faith and community were an important part of his life.
Above all else, Duane's greatest pride and joy were his children. He believed in passing along life's lessons through both words and example. He taught those around him the importance of being honest, working hard, keeping their word, and, of course, how to shoot straight. These were not just things Duane talked about; they were principles he lived by every day.
Duane is survived by his daughter Anita McDaniel and husband Larry of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and a host of other friends and family.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Dutton; Son, Jerry Glenn Dutton; Parents, Ruben Melton Dutton and Roberta Mae (Riley) Dutton; and sister, Ida Mae Brown.
