Obituary

Jeffery Lynn McCreary was born on July 29, 1960 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Julius C. and Lacey McCreary who both preceded him in death.
Jeffery (affectionately known as Jeff) grew up on the south side of Chicago attending Fort Dearborn Elementary School and Calumet High School. He gained lifelong friends while growing up on South Throop in Chicago.
Jeff marries Cynthia Redeaux in 1980. From this union, their son, Justin was born.
Jeff was employed at State Towers in maintenance until he was presented with a sudden health challenge that prevented him from working. Still Jeff pressed on.
The Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago enthusiastically welcomed Jeff into its family in the early 1990's where he was baptized by Rev. Dr. Nathan L. Schaffer, Jr. He attended regularly until his permanent move to Tatums, Oklahoma in 1998. Even after moving to Tatums, he maintained a close relationship with Pastor Schaffer.
Jeff found contentment living near his mom, Lacey in Tatums - her childhood home. He joined in fellowship with Bethel Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Richard, Pastor - later uniting with Pilgrim Church where Rev. Eddie Copeland was his pastor until his ascension to Heaven.
Jeff loved attending church and spending quality time with family and friends. He was known to be quite witty. He sometimes had an off-beat sense of humor - often laughing the most about his own jokes.
We will fondly remember Jeff for his love of family and friends and his resilience in times of adversity.
Jeff is survived by his devoted family - son Justin (Tanisha) McCreary; grandchildren, Rashad, Ryan, Jacey, and Bailey of McKenzie, Tennessee; sisters Edna (Charles) Lovett, Deanna (Maurice) Wood and Dawn McCreary– Hayes of Chicago, Illinois; nephews Corey (Susan) Lovett, Nick (Jai) Lovett, Terrence Hayes and Dushon Wood. Aunty Betty Davis - Norman of Lawton, Oklahoma and Aunt Esther McCreary of Chicago, Illinois. Jeff also leaves to cherish his memory a host of cousins, great nieces, a great nephew and friends.
Jeff's physical being left us on October 24, 2023 but his spirit lives on within us all. We are grateful that God loaned him to us for this time though it now seems to short.
Rest on, Jeff. We love you forever!
