James Deloss "Dee" Brown, Jr.

James Deloss (Dee) Brown, Jr. entered this world on January 13, 1930, and after a lengthy illness left it peacefully on January 27, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Navada June Goodson Brown and daughter Dee Ann Browne of the home; two grandsons, Jeff Wright and his wife Brandie and great-granddaughters Katlyn and Natalie Wright of Noble, OK; Michael Sterling and his wife Alena and great-granddaughter Emily Sterling of Purcell, OK; a sister, Geneva Brown Watson of Shawnee, OK; two brothers, Bill Brown and his wife Katherine of Durant, OK and Homer Brown and his wife Charli of Tuttle, OK; a beloved brother-in-law, Harold Bast of Newcastle, OK. Also, a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Duran Brown, his parents, James Deloss Brown and Clara Southerland Brown, two sisters, Janice Brown Bast and Helen Ruth Brown. Mr. Brown was born and raised in the Pauls Valley, OK area. He graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1948. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a radioman aboard ship during the Korean War. Dee worked in the oil patch for many years and he helped build military helicopters during the Vietnam war. He was a country music D.J. for a period of ten years. He always had a thirst for exploring new things, meeting new people and exploring new places. He was a talented writer, poet and speaker. Dee was a Master Mason, having served as Master of Valley Lodge #6 in Pauls Valley, OK. He was a lifetime member of Moore Lodge #539 of Moore, OK. He served in the highest office in Masonry as Grand Master of Masons in Oklahoma in 1982. Dee was known throughout the Craft of Oklahoma Masonry as a brother and a teacher who worked tirelessly for his brethren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Valley Hospice, in care of Pauls Valley General Hospital, P. O. Box 368, Pauls Valley, OK 73075-0368, Grand Lodge Masonic Building Fund, Guthrie, OK, Masonic Charity Foundation, Edmond, OK or the charity of your choice. A memorial will be held at the Bosa Center in Pauls Valley, OK at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Professional services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
