James Beverlyn Brannon was born on March 20, 1986, in Fort Myers, Florida, to James Beverlyn Wilson, Jr. and Carla Marie (Colvin) Brannon. He passed from this life on May 16, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 40.
James grew up in Fort Myers and Pine Island, Florida, where he attended school. From an early age, he loved fishing, the outdoors, and spending time on the water. He was naturally creative, had an entrepreneurial spirit, and enjoyed building things with his hands. His love for nature and adventure stayed with him throughout his life.
James began his career working in masonry while living in Florida. After moving to Oklahoma, he worked at the Exotic Animal Zoo in Wynnewood, a job that held a special place in his heart. He especially loved working with the tigers and caring for the animals. Later, he became a chef at Happy Days in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where his talent in the kitchen was appreciated by many. He was known as a very good cook and was especially proud of his tuna melts and cheeseburgers.
As the years went on, James continued to enjoy fishing and camping, always finding peace outdoors. More than anything, the greatest highlights of his life were his children, who meant the world to him.
James was someone who believed in perseverance and shared that lesson with others. He was patient and encouraging, even teaching his nieces and nephews how to drive using one of his favorite sayings: "Stay between the mayo and mustard and there will be no ketchup." It was advice delivered with humor, love, and the kind of wisdom that will not be forgotten.
James will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his creativity, his cooking, and the joy he found in life's simple moments by the water, around a campfire, or with those he loved.
James is survived by his children, James Paul Brannon, William Arthur Thompson Wilson, Charles Major Lee Thompson Wilson, Elizabeth Rose Thompson Wilson; Parents, Carla Brannon and James Wilson, Jr.; Sisters, Tabitha Marie Brannon, Amy Danielle Woronvich, Jamie Janelle Bruner; and a host of other family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Nicole Bramlett.
