Obituary

Ian Clayton (Clay) Johnson passed away in the early evening of August 29, 2026. Born on
September 11, 1981, to Nikki and LaDon Johnson in Oklahoma City, Clay grew up in Pauls
Valley and graduated from Pauls Valley High School in the spring of 2000.
Always wanting to make things better for those around him and possessing a natural
enthusiasm for mechanics, Clay joined the team at Valley Body Shop, where he worked
for the next several years. He loved working alongside his cousin Tyler and the team, and
it was there that his talent for working with his hands and his love of mechanics and
motorcycles continued to grow. He pursued further education at the Universal Technical
Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, where he became a certified Harley-Davidson Technician.
At just 44 years old, he leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a place in the hearts of
so many who knew and loved him. Known by family and close friends as Clay, and Uncle
Clay, Ian was a man who could fill a room with his presence, yet there was a gentleness
about him that made people feel at ease. He was well-liked and deeply genuine, a truly
free spirit with a unique and special heart. Those who crossed his path walked away
knowing they had met a good guy.
Ian had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in nature, animals, and the simple
beauty of being outside. He was an avid outdoorsman and cherished the time he spent
out on the road and camping in beautiful locations he found along the way. He also had a
passion for music and movies, and he had a wonderful sense of humor. His quick wit
could catch you off guard and make you laugh when you least expected it. He had a
tender heart. He loved his family deeply, and the memories they share with him will
remain a precious part of their lives.
Above all, Ian had a strong faith and found comfort and belonging in his church family.
His faith was an important part of who he was, and the love he shared with those around
him will not be forgotten. He will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, his
gentle spirit, his quick wit, and the warmth he brought into the lives of others. His life
may have been far too short, but the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will
endure in the hearts of his family, friends, nieces, nephews, and all who were blessed to
know him.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, James Ray Ward, Carnez and Mildred Johnson;
father, LaDon Johnson; uncles, Vaughn Johnson and Bill Pratt; brother, Jesse Cowan; and
