Dorothy McKenzie Nelson passed away at hone in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on August, 29 2022. Dorothy was born on April 19, 1928 in Wichita Falls, Texas to George and Mabel McKenzie. Dorothy was the second of four children.

Dorothy graduated with a degree in English from Phillips University and became a school teacher until motherhood became her life-long passion. After seeing all three of her children off to college, she was active in the Pauls Valley United Methodist Church, PEO and various local community groups.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 61 years, John Gordon Nelson. She is survived by her son Doug, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Richard, daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Georgim five grandchildren; Blake, Catherine, Rebekah, Daniel, and Thaddaeus, and two great-grandchildren; Ella and Owen.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pauls Valley United Methodist Church.
