Obituary

DORIS JEAN BRUMLEY
Doris Jean Brumley of Paoli was born April 13, 1949 in Ada, Oklahoma to Haskell Cleo and Etta Mae (Dennis) Blackwell and passed away at her home on Saturday, March 10, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Doris spent her childhood at Stonewall, Oklahoma and moved to Garvin County in 1965 where she attended Pauls Valley High School. On June 09, 1970 Doris married Christopher Lee Brumley in Gainesville, Texas, and the couple shared the blessing of being married until he preceded her in death in May of 2017.
Doris was a hard worker and worked at many restaurants, including Al's , Sheppard's and Fields before the couple moved to Lafayette, Louisiana for a time. Doris in particular enjoyed eating the seafood while living there. After returning to Pauls Valley she worked at Curwood Manufacturing where she was a finisher until her health was compromised with breast cancer. Nothing was more fun for Doris than shopping at garage sales, thrift stores, the Dollar Tree and eating at Cracker Barrel. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
She taught all her family a strong work ethic and was a woman who could do it all…keeping her house clean, nurturing her family all while working a job outside her home. She was a person who grew up in a home where she was taught the values of living a good life, respect for elders, and keeping your family together.
Doris is survived by:
Son – Christopher Scott Brumley and wife Laura Michelle
Daughter – Stephanie Jean Felan
Sister – Darlene McAlister
Grandchildren – 6 Haley Nicole and Yolanda Coulter; Whitney Dawn Brumley; William Payton Brumley; Jessica Ann Brumley; Nathaniel Scott Felan and Mason Lee Felan
Doris is preceded in death by her parents Haskell and Etta Mae Blackwell; her husband Christopher Scott Brumley and her brother-in-law Glenn McAlister.
