October 2, 1928 - December 6, 2015
Sunday morning, December 6, 2015, as the sun was rising, Jesus called a wonderful man to his heavenly home. Tommie Garvin was born October 2, 1928 in Katie, Oklahoma. He attended school at Katie with his siblings. After his father passed away, at an early age, Tommie worked at various jobs in the community to help support his mother and younger siblings. He met and married his best friend and love of his life Jesse Lorene (Giles) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma where she was living while taking care of her grandmother Vineyard. They married and spent 65 wonderful years together. Tommie loved camping, fishing, going to the coffee shop, sharing jokes with his friends, and going to the Monday night music at the Wynnewood Senior Citizens Center with his friends and Bob and Brenda Cudabeck. Tommie loved his Katie community and church. He had many friends and cherished each and every one. He loved to sit on the bench at Wal-Mart and unofficially greeted everyone who entered. Tommie was a devoted member of Katie Victory Baptist Church. He loved his pastor, Johnny Beckham and his friends and neighbors who worshipped there with him. Tommie loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved singing the “good” ole gospel hymns at church and at home. He was looking forward to a great family reunion in heaven. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Lorene in April. He cherished her and missed her dearly. His son Robert Eugene Garvin also preceded him in death, as well as a granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Garvin. Tommie is survived by a daughter, Sandra Keller and husband Mike, four grandchildren, Chad Keller and wife Dawn, Kristy Moyer, Shelby Tadlock and husband Tyler and Robert Garvin and wife Jennifer. He also had eight great-grandchildren, Jacob and Nathan Keller, Caleb and Kaycee Moyer, Jaxon and Jensen Tadlock and Noah and Genesis Garvin. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Katie Victory Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Beckham officiating. Interment will be in the Katie Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. You may send a condolence to the family at www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
