Rosie Mae Watts

September 28, 1935 - February 22, 2014

Rosie Alice Mae Watts, of Tatums, OK entered this life on Sept 28, 1934 to George Breath and Rosie (Antwine) Breath and entered eternal life on February 22, 2014. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Tatums, OK all of her life. Rosie attended school in Tatums, OK. She worked as a cook at the Headstart in Tatums, OK, before retiring. She was a very faithful servant of the Lord up until the Lord called her home. She served as Sunday school secretary and church treasurer for numerous years, and one of the eldest mothers of the church. Even after her health started to fail; she still read and studied her word to show herself approved. Even when she could barely utter a word or move her limbs; she was able to call upon her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and managed to waive a rejoiceful hand to the Lord. Rosie met and married Earl C. Watts in 1951. She had 9 children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and really loved taking care of her children, cooking, quilting, singing, and doing hair. She was known for her press and curls and her cooking (especially her hot rolls, chicken & dressing, and her desserts). She was the best cook on this side of heaven! She would feed anyone that stopped by; she always made more than enough. Rosie was also known to some as “Little Rosie” and to others as “Aunt Rosie.” Rosie was also dedicated to taking care of others, especially the elderly. She received a certificate of award recognition of outstanding service and her dedication to the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Tatums, OK, in 1999, under the leadership of the late Reverend Fred Franklin. She received a certificate for significant service to the community as a retired and senior volunteer for 16 years of service for Carter, Johnston, and Murray counties. She received recognition of Distinguished Achievement as the Pilgram Baptist Church Financial Secretary in 2005, under the leadership of the late Reverend Reginald Thrash, Sr. She was a truly beautiful woman, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be missed dearly, especially by her children. Rosie is survived by: Her Sons: Sam Watts (Verna) of Tatums, OK, Melvin Watts (Nell) of Davis, OK, Jimmy Miles (Taunja) of Oklahoma City, OK , Jericho Watts (Amanda) of Tatums, OK Her Daughters: Maye Taylor (Michael) of Oklahoma City, OK, Maxine Swindall (Larry) of Tatums, OK, Eva Woody (Steve) of Ardmore, OK, Jannie Miles of Oklahoma City, OK, and Amie Watts Grant of Lawton, OK, and one special daughter Tonni Sampson of Pauls Valley, OK.
