Myrtle Gertrude Merritt of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to James and Ferona R. (Hall) Smith on April 15, 1917 in Spann, Kentucky and passed from this life on September 19, 2013 in Tuttle, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years. Myrtle grew up and attended school in Oilton, Oklahoma. In 1935, she married Orville Lee Merritt in Oilton. Myrtle was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, crochet, and reading the Bible. The highlight of her life was taking care of her family. Mrs. Merritt is survived by: 2 sons: Jim Merritt and wife Janet of Moore, Oklahoma Phil Merritt and wife Carolyn of Tuttle, Oklahoma 12 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren Mrs. Merritt was preceded in death by: Her husband: Orville Merritt Son: Fred Merritt Daughter: Juanita Clason Parents: James and Ferona Smith 4 brothers and 2 sisters Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Elmore City Cemetery with Rev.
