Melinda Kay Jones

Melinda Kay Jones of Lindsay, OK, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 6, 2023. Melinda was born to L.B. and Ina Hoyle on July 29, 1957, in Chickasha, OK. She grew up and attended school in Bradley, OK, and Lindsay, OK. She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1975, and she attended college at East Central University in Ada, OK, for a period of time before marrying Ronald Dewayne Jones of Lindsay, OK, on October 16, 1979. Melinda, also affectionately known as Nana, loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. She enjoyed spending time with them and supporting them in all of their activities and endeavors. Melinda loved to shop, especially for her grandchildren. Every small town boutique owner around knew her and loved her dearly. Melinda also enjoyed reading, music of all genres, gardening, cooking, and traveling. She was a huge animal lover, and she was thoroughly enjoying her newfound life on the “farm.” She and Ron had recently purchased a new RV and were looking forward to traveling more after spending time building their dream home and raising cattle. Melinda also loved her community and supported any and every organization that she could. She was a current member of the Lindsay Education Foundation, and she was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Progressive Study Club. She was also an excellent bookkeeper and served in that capacity as a secretary for J & J Spooling (Ron’s business), State Farm Insurance (her father’s business), and Harrison Gypsum over the course of many years. Finally, Melinda was a wonderful caretaker and a friend to all. She enjoyed spending time with friends from all seasons of life, and she always found ways to make them feel special. Melinda is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ron Jones, of Lindsay, OK, and their two children: Brooke Inman and husband, John, of Lindsay, OK, and Brock Jones and wife, Michelle, of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by her sister, Melissa Wells, of Lexington, OK, her father-in-law, Gene Jones, and wife, Kay, of Lindsay, OK, one brother-in-law, Joe Jones, and wife, Doli, of Edmond, OK, and one sister-in-law, Terresa Jones, of Lindsay, OK. Melinda will also be remembered by her three grandchildren: Tessa and Marlee Inman of Lindsay, OK, and Von Jones of Oklahoma City, OK. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she adored. Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, L.B. and Ina Hoyle, and her mother-in-law, Jearldean Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lindsay Education Foundation. Services for Melinda will be Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at The First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow immediately after at the Bradley Cemetery in Bradley, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
