December 7, 1937 - October 9, 2019
Lynn Roy Welcher of Katie, Oklahoma was born to Erba Lynn and Irene (Bost) Welcher on December 7, 1937 in Lindsay, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his home in Katie, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years. Lynn grew up in Elmore City and had a happy childhood playing with his siblings. They spent many hours running up and down the creek, playing all kinds of outdoor games, climbing trees, swinging from the tree branches, and playing in the creek. Lynn loved teasing his sisters, often “tricking” them by paying them a penny to do his chores for what they thought was “one time” which he intended to be “forever.” His mother was often the recipient of his playful antics. Time was also spent with their daddy and the other siblings working in the fields as well. Lynn attended grade school at Satterwhite and graduated from Elmore City High School in 1957. Right out of high school, Lynn well serviced for a while then went to work for Service Gas. He retired from Kerr-McGee Refinery after 45 years of service. He was a member of Katie Victory Baptist Church. In his spare time, Lynn enjoyed playing dominoes, hunting, fishing, and gardening. The highlights of his life were the births of his children, becoming a Christian, serving the Lord and marrying his best friend, Bonnie on February 2, 1961. He taught others to be hard worker, be honest, and stand behind your word. Lynn was a wonderful husband and father who always had time for his children. He was a good provider for his family and a very humble person. He wanted people to know the kind of person he was by how he lived his life. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of the home; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jeanetta & Skeeze Tillery of Elmore City; Beth & Jim Veazey of Harrah, OK; Glenda Colwell of Lawton, OK; Ronda & Wayne Begley of Lawton, OK; Jacklyn & Johnny Harman of Elmore City; brothers and sisters-in-law: Tommy & Virginia Welcher, of Ada, OK; and Clinton & Cathy Welcher, Ada, OK; many nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son: Christopher Lynn Welcher; daughter: Regina Marie Harrel; parents: Lynn and Irene Welcher; brother Stevie Bost Welcher; one sister, Sandra Nation and baby brother: Wendell Paul Welcher.
