Jana Deann Sexton

August 10, 1974 - March 5, 2015

Jana “ya-ya” Sexton (Tannehill) was born August 10, 1974 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and was called home by her angels after a yearlong bout with cancer on March 5th, 2015 in the same place that she blessed this world, she was surrounded by family and friends as she was peacefully greeted by her angels. Those angels being, Ashley Whitlock, Elizabeth Jewel, and Wolfie. Jana was preceded in death by Grandparents Buck and Idella Gaines, Eugene Tannehill, Aunt Vicki Gaines and step-father Tommy Smith. Jana is survived by “Mom” Gayla Smith of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Her “Daddy” Phillip and Glenda Tannehill of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Misti and Butch Collins, Ryan and Jana Smith, Tommy R. Smith, Sterling and Betty Smith, Connie and Roy Rogers, all of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. (Father’s Family) Grandmother Joy Tannehill, Dwight and Angela Gaston and their son Evan of Yukon, Oklahoma. Ken Gaston of Yukon, Oklahoma and Mark Tannehill of Pooler, Georgia. She also had an allegiance of special sisters Denese Williams, Joanna Easton, Kristen Yarbrough, Belinda Thacker, Sherry Kimberlin, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jana graduated from Wynnewood High School and worked at SORC for 10 years until its negligent demise. She was very passionate about her work. She loved her client like family and would talk endlessly about them like all state school workers from past to present. She had many fond stories of the co-workers and clients that she loved to share including bickering and football bets with Stephen Ford. “Ya-ya’s” pride and joys were nieces Josie, and Kaitlyn and nephew Levi. Her passions in life were excursions with them every chance she got. The introduction of Josie Dawn in this world lit a fire in her eyes that none of us ever expected but yet fueled a love that blessed Kaitlyn and Levi with an abundance of love. She enjoyed OSU football, going to the casino with “mom” and loved to rub it in whenever her purse left heavier than hers. Also, Jana enjoyed brother guided fishing trips to ensure no harm was done to the worm or the fish by her hand. She had a huge love for music of all genres and a dedicated schedule of watching the Voice. GO TEAM BLAKE. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Hamilton officiating. Interment will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma and is under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Pauls Valley General Hospital and Tabitha and Sonya of Cross Timbers Hospice for their unconditional care and dedication.
