Jack Henderson Cook

April 22, 1927 - January 19, 2014

Jack Henderson Cook of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Walter Luther and Bessie Acenith (Simmons) Cook on April 22, 1927 in Foster, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Sunday, January 19, 2014 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years. Jack grew up and attended school at Burrs High and Dibble High where he excelled in basketball. After graduation, Jack served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. On December 6, 2001, Jack married Sylvia Colene Williams in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Mr. Cook worked for Halliburton, and was a carpenter helper for Larue Fox. Jack was also self employed hauling hay and cutting wood, picking up pecans, broom corn and cotton. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and playing dominoes. Jack spent many hours fishing. He fished so much that the new dock at the Elmore City lake was named “Cook’s Landing.” He also loved his family and the time spent with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Mr. Cook is survived by: Wife: Sylvia Colene Cook of the home Sons: Richard Cook of Edwardsville, Kansas Steve Cook and wife Phyllis of Elmore City, Oklahoma Robbie Cook and wife Dee of Norman, Oklahoma Daughters: Debra Alexander of Thorndal, Texas Laura Dudley of Checotah, Oklahoma Sisters: Opal Pearson of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Virginia Jackson of Moore, Oklahoma Brother-in-law: Bill Taylor of Moore, Oklahoma 13 Grandchildren & 16 Great Grandchildren Mr. Cook was preceded in death by: His parents: Walter and Bessie Cook Brothers: Edward Cook and Walter Fletcher “Bub” Cook Sister: Dovie Taylor & Ila Stevens Son in Law: Tommy Alexander Daughter in Law: Katie Cook Grandson: Chris Sharber Granddaughter: April Dudley Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ in Elmore City, Oklahoma with Joe Terrell officiating. Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. You may send a condolence to the family at www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
