Vernon "Skeeze" Tillery

Vernon Edward “Skeeze” Tillery of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to John Marcus and Lizzie Arvella (Chennault) Tillery on June 28, 1933, in Antioch, Oklahoma and passed from this life on April 5, 2023, in Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years. Skeeze grew up and attended school at Davis school, Maysville, and Elmore City. During high school, he was the recipient of the Lions Club swine program. He was saved and baptized at Satterwhite Missionary Baptist Church in August of 1954 and ordained as a Deacon on his birthday on June 28, 1963. On May 7, 1954, Skeeze married the love of his life, Jeanetta Rae Welcher in Norman, Oklahoma. Together they have lived in the same location all of their married life except the short time of living in Iota, Louisiana and Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Skeeze worked as a production foreman in the oil and gas industry, retiring in 2019. He enjoyed raising durocs, quail hunting, fishing, and any activity that involved his grandkids and great grandkids. The highlights of Skeeze’s life were his family attending church at Satterwhite and spending time with his family during the holidays. He taught others the value of family, work ethic, love each other, and love the Lord. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, papa, and friend. He will be missed by many. Mr. Tillery is survived by: Wife: Jeanettta Tillery of the home 2 Sons and their families: Ronald Tillery and Brenda of Hennepin, Oklahoma Their children and families: Jodie and Jeff Clemons and Jaxon and Jentry of Ardmore, Oklahoma Justin and Ardra Tillery and Faith and Chase of Dougherty, Oklahoma Jayme and Jason Cook and Jade, Jesse, and Jaysen (JB) of Elmore City, Oklahoma Rickey Tillery and Anita of Edmond, Oklahoma Their daughters and families: Amber and Rod Smith and Reid and Noah of Piedmont, Oklahoma Autumn and Justin McCaulla and Nixon and Jett of Piedmont, Oklahoma Malley and Brett Lynes and Karson and Hudson of Edmond, Oklahoma Masey and Cory Listen and Ellee of Edmond, Oklahoma 1 Daughter and her families: Renee and Michael Johnson of Elmore City, Oklahoma Ashley and Justin Caldwell and Grady of Elgin, Oklahoma Corey and Shallen Johnson and Cason, Brock, Cannon, Tayleigh and Stassi of Elmore City, Oklahoma Courtney and Jeremy Ezzell and Cadence and Abram of Maysville, Oklahoma Sister: Opal Harris and Sonny of Elmore City, Oklahoma Along with a host of family and friends Mr. Tillery was preceded in death by: Parents: John and Lizzie Tillery Brothers: Ralph and Roy Gene Tillery Sisters: Ventia “Nete” Murphy, Irene “Didd” Simco and Donna Johnston Grandson: Jesse Wyatt Tillery and one great-granddaughter, Gracie Rae Ezzell Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Elmore City.
