Venita Kennedy Langdon

Mamie Venita Pyle Langdon of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Charles Edwin and Bessie Evelee Pyle the youngest of six children on June 22, 1926 south of Elmore City, Garvin County, Oklahoma and passed from this life on May 31, 2006 in Elmore City, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years. Venita grew up and attended school at Satterwhite and Pernell, graduating in 1944 from Pernell school. She was a member of the Foster Extension Club for many years. On August 12, 1944, Venita married William Curtis Kennedy. To this union two children were born: Thomas Warren and Barbara Jeanne and later their 4 children: Kyle Kennedy, Ki Kennedy Boan, Melissa Hunt Shuler and Marcy Hunt and 3 great-grandchildren: Alexis Sheridan Greene and Sydney Marie Shuler, and Mia Claire Hunt.. This marriage lasted almost fifty years, ending January 1993 with the death of Curtis. Venita was born in to the family of God in her early years and continued this faith thru this life, instilling it in her children and grandchildren. After eight years of being alone, Venita married Leo Langdon on February 17, 2001. With this marriage, she gained two step-children and their spouses – David and Teresa :Langdon of Elmore City and Nita Kay Hogan and Henry Hogan of Elmore City. Seven step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren. Her life was greatly blessed by this family. In her own words, “Thank you for loving me.” “I have written my sermon with the life I lived everyday. I pray that my life will be a good memory and influence for each person I have known.” Mrs. Langdon is survived by; Her husband: Leo of the home One son: Thomas Warren Kennedy of Sulphur, Ok One Daughter: Barbara Jeanne Hunt and her husband Pat of Gainsville, Texas 1 step-son: David Langdon and his wife Teresa of Elmore City, Oklahoma 1 step-daughter: Nita Kay Hogan and her husband Henry of Elmore City, Oklahoma 1 sister: Pearl Dewberry of Elmore City, Oklahoma Four Grandchildren: Kyle Kennedy, Ki Kennedy Boan, Melissa Hunt Shuler and Marcy Hunt 7 step- grandchildren Three great-grandchildren: Alexis Sheridan Greene and Sydney Marie Shuler and Mia Claire Hunt Numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends Mrs. Langdon was preceded in death by; Her husband: Curtis Kennedy Her parents: Charles and Bessie Pyle Two brothers: Jim and Earl Pyle Two sisters: Mable Stubblefield and Inez Johnson Funeral services for Mrs. Langdon are scheduled for Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ in Elmore City with Joe Terrell officiating.
