Ruby Lee Harbison

Ruby Lee (Robbins) Harbison entered this life August 4, 1926 born to Lee and Trudie Buel (Britton) Robbins in Milburn, Oklahoma and entered eternal life surrounded by her loving family on January 23, 2010 at the age of 83 years. Ruby grew up in the Tishomingo and Milburn area of Oklahoma and attended Filmore School. Ruby bore much of the responsibility of raising her brothers and sisters while her parents worked long hours to provide for the family. The home Ruby grew up in was a Christian home and her family worshipped at the local Church of Christ together. Ruby married Cecil Harbison on August 11, 1945 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Maysville for a time and moved to their home place in Antioch in 1957. They took their family each year from 1956-1966 to the Pacific North West to work following the fruit harvest. It was during these days that Cecil and Ruby taught their children the importance of a good work ethic, treating others as one would want to be treated and to value family closeness. Ruby sewed Barbie doll clothing which she sold to make money to spend for Christmas. Ruby and Cecil enjoyed a relationship that afforded them many happy hours when they would go for long scenic drives together. They were very blessed because they could enjoy the simple things in life. Ruby loved her church and serving the Lord in any way she could. It was important to Ruby that her family remain close and take care of each other. Survivors include: 2 daughters- Joyce and her husband Charles Dial of Ada and Betty and her husband Charles Harris of Pauls Valley 3 sons- Jimmy Earl Harbison of Oklahoma City, Buddy Harbison and his wife Donna of Maysville and Bobby Harbison and his wife Charlene of Elmore City 1 brother- Clois and his wife Joyce Robbins of Lone Grove 3 sisters- Lois Riddle of Lone Grove, Jewel Woods of Oklahoma City and Floy Woods of McCloud. 9 grandchildren- Aleshia, Charley, Scottie, Christy, Shannon, April, Cole, Brandy, and Louanna Also 16 great-grandchildren and one great- great- grandchild expected in 2 weeks. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, her parents, and her brothers, Dillard and Hoyt Robbins. Services to celebrate the life and home-going of Ruby Harbison are scheduled for Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Elmore City Church of Christ with Joe Terrell officiating.
