Rosa June Parnell

Rosa June (Jones) Parnell of Norman, Oklahoma passed away suddenly January 22, 2012. Rosa June (Jones) Parnell was born July 16, 1940 to William and Fronie Jones in Centralia, Illinois. She had an identical twin sister Emma Jean. They were raised in Centralia and were blessed at age 9 with a new baby brother, Sammy Buck. He became their whole world. The family relocated to Elmore City, Oklahoma with Sohio Oil in 1955. In 1960 Rose gave birth to a daughter Penny. Then in1962 she married Louis Eugene Anai and one year later they were parents to a son Dowell. There were many happy years during their lives together in Elmore City. In 1971, Rose was devastated by the loss of her brother Buck to muscular dystrophy at age 21. In August 1974, Rose met and married John L. Parnell all in the same week. They were surprised with a baby daughter Johnnie Autumn in 1977 when Rose was 38 years old. Soon thereafter her first two grandchildren Amanda and Ariel were born. She devoted all of her time, energy, and money to doting on Johnnie, Amanda, and Ariel’s every need. In 1985, Rose lost her wonderful mother Fronie, and in 1988 she had to endure the loss of her beloved twin Emma. Since that time she never let a day pass without recalling and sharing memories of Emma. During this time she gained two more deeply loved grandchildren, Rilee and Justin Anai. Her steadfast father Bill passed in 1993 and she became the sole survivor of the family she was born into. The new century brought her two more grandsons Dalton born in 2000 and Knight in 2006. The past decade Rose gave everything she had within her to the love and care of these little boys. They were in her every thought. She was again blessed with a beautiful great-granddaughter Adrian in 2007. Rose was extremely proud of her family. She loved spending time on the phone with loved ones near and far. She loved shopping at garage sales and providing for everyone she knew. She helped countless strangers in need and loved doing so. She loved slot machines and her favorite story to tell anyone was about the day she won $10,000 in Laughlin, Nevada. Rose will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her husband John of 37 years, children Penny and Bart Tunnell of Norman, Dowell and Sonja Anai of Wynnewood, Johnnie Parnell of Norman, her grandchildren Amanda Tunnell, Ariel Tunnell of Los Angeles, California, Rilee and David Bradshaw of Wynnewood, Justin Anai of Wynnewood, Dalton Black, and Knight Gossett ofNorman and one great-granddaughter Adrian Bradshaw of Wynnewood, and many casino acquaintances, friends and relatives. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home with Joe Terrell officiating. Interment will be in the Mt.
