Rhonda Lea Matthews

Rhonda Lea Matthews, lovingly known by many as "Granny Moo," passed away on August 4, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 56. Born on November 25, 1968, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, she was the cherished daughter of Robert L. Kilcrease and Bonnie Jo (Jennings) Matthews. Rhonda grew up in Elmore City, Oklahoma, where she attended school and developed a deep love for music. She proudly played the drums in band, participated in the drum corps and flag corps, and served as drum major—a role that reflected her natural leadership and passion for bringing people together. On May 27, 1988, she married the love of her life, Thomas Frank Matthews, in Elmore City. Together, they built a life full of adventure, including living in Germany for two years while Thomas was stationed there. True to her generous spirit, Rhonda and Thomas once cooked a full meal for his entire platoon—a gesture that captured her heart for service and care. Professionally, Rhonda was a hardworking and dedicated woman. She worked as a waitress and later found her calling in property management with Austin Property Management in Texas. Her commitment to people and hospitality followed her in every role she took on. A member of the Church of Christ in Elmore City, Rhonda lived a life guided by compassion and service. She loved swap meets, sunflowers, and cows—especially cows, which inspired her beloved nickname, "Granny Moo." Animals, especially strays, always found a soft spot with Rhonda, and she never met a stranger. Her home, her heart, and her arms were always open. More than anything, Rhonda was a mother figure to many. She taught others how to be strong, kind, and loving beyond measure. Whether you knew her as Momma, Granny, or Rhonda, you knew someone who would put your needs before her own. She was the beating heart of every gathering, the smile in every room, and the love that so many depended on. Rhonda’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her laughter, her stories, her generosity, and her endless love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her. Rhonda is survived by her husband, Thomas Frank Matthews; Mother, Bonnie Jo (Jennings) Matthews; Sons, Yancey Robert Johnson, Thomas Frank Matthews II; Daughter, Danielle Nicole Bouska and husband Albert; Brother, Jason Wesley Kilcrease and wife JanaLynn; Grandchildren, Alexis Jo Johnson, Riley Johnson, Haleigh Nicole Bouska, Phoebe Elizabeth Matthews, Thomas Frank Matthews III, Aliceson Jo Johnson; and a host of other friends and family. Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Kilcrease; Brother, Justin Wayne Kilcrease; Grandparents, Roy Jennings and wife Martha, Karl Kilcrease and wife Mildred; Granddaughter, Lilly Nicole Bouska; and Great-Grandson, Blake Berryhill III. Services for Rhonda will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Christ in Elmore City, Oklahoma with Joe Terrell officiating. Cremation services will be under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home in Elmore City, Oklahoma. Visitation for Rhonda will be on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. and Friday, August 15, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
