Lois L. Brooks

Lois Lorene Driskill Brooks of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born March 11, 1923 in Foster, Oklahoma to William Earl and Mary Louisa (McConnell) Driskill and passed from this life on June 12, 2007 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years. Lois graduated from Rosedale High School in 1942. On January 13, 1945, she married Henry Leo Brooks. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church where she served many years as a Sunday School teacher, director and member of WMU, and choir member. Lois worked at Ben’s Country Kitchen, the Pauls Valley Democrat, Pauls Valley Wholesale and Wooster Funeral Home. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, collecting coffee mugs, traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. Lois was preceded in death by her parents: W. E. and Mary Driskill; her husband: Leo Brooks; one sister: Lavinia (Sis) Wynn; two brothers: Loyd Driskill and Julius Driskill; and one grandson: Carey Scott Guthrie. Lois is survived by one sister: Lahoma Bechtel of Pauls Valley; one brother: Dwyane Driskill of Houston, Texas; four daughters: Donna Halsell and her husband Ray of Sulphur, Sharon Guthrie and her husband Dean of Chickasha, Lori Holcomb and her husband Jim of Lindsay, Brenda Jarman and her husband Johnny of Pauls Valley; one son: Gary Brooks and his wife Susan of El Reno; twelve grandchildren: Thomas Halsell of Grand Prairie, Texas, Lesley Halsell of Sulphur, Scott and David Guthrie of Chickasha, Brent Guthrie of Oklahoma City, Mandy Brooks of Oklahoma City, Daniel Brooks of Mustang, Matt Holcomb of Ada, Annie Grigg of Vanoss, Jeremiah Jarman of Pauls Valley, Sarah Milledge of Pauls Valley, and Amanda Nicklas of Purcell, ten great-grandchildren: Garrett, Mattea, Adleigh, Hannah and Danae Halsell of Grand Prairie, Texas, Sydney and Ashley Halsell of Sulphur, Elyse and Ian Guthrie of Chickasha, and Alaina Grigg of Vanoss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73112-6506 or Valley Hospice, 100 Valley Dr., Pauls Valley, Ok 73075 Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks are scheduled for Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev.
