LAVON SAMPSON Lavon Camar Sampson entered this life November 3, 1984 born to Celano Jones and Tommie Etta Hooks Sampson in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He departed this life on Saturday, May 23, 2009 near Paden, Oklahoma at the age of 24 years. Lavon spent his early childhood days in Tatums , OK and moved to Pauls Valley, OK in 1992. He graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 2003 and attended Ardmore Higher Education for a time. Lavon then went to work for SORC in Pauls Valley where he was a Direct Care Specialist until the time of his death. Lavon chose to make family first in his life. Letting his family know that he loved them by his expression “I Love You” said frequently to each of them was a very endearing quality. Special time for Lavon was any time spent with family especially nieces and nephews. He was a very gracious and well mannered person. Joining the Bethel Baptist Church in Tatums when he was 6 years old and later being baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Pauls Valley established him early in the faith. At his work he had a passion for caring for his clients with special needs always mindful of their needs and demonstrating a deeply caring spirit. He was a “big Teddy Bear” with a special way of relating to all individuals of the community young and old. Lavon was the life of the party with his expert outdoor grilling talents. Always a great lover of parties he had a great time with special birthday celebrations for his niece and nephew. He was an avid fisherman and very competitive especially when fishing with his fiance’ Holly. He had to beat her and counted anything he caught even the size of a minnow as a point for himself. His truck was kept immaculate and tinkering with his truck brought him great pleasure. The hours he spent at the lake and with his dogs Crazy Tank and Harley were special. Family members grieving his passing are his fiance’ Holly Dawn Johnson; his father, Celano Jones ; his mother, Tonni Sampson; brothers, Stefon Sampson and James Sampson; sisters, Danielle Williams and Angel Sampson; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hooks and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones, Sr.; and beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m.in the 1st Baptist Church of Elmore City, OK, Saturday, May 30, 2009. Interment will follow in the Tautms Cemetery in Tatums, OK.
