Laura Young

Laura Marie Young of Elmore City, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Memorial services will be January 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Elmore City Church of Christ with Joe Terrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmore City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Laura Marie Brown Young was born at home three miles east of Elmore City to Charles Sheldon and Julia Ester Shelton Brown on July 17, 1932. Laura spent her childhood in both Oklahoma and Texas, graduating from Dawson High School in Welch, Texas. She soon went to work for General Telephone Company in Lamesa, Texas for five years before marrying Charles Lloyd Young on August 10, 1956 in Lamesa, Texas. They lived in Idaho and farmed for more than 20 years before moving back to Oklahoma in 1978. Laura then worked for Wal-Mart in Pauls Valley for more than 20 years. Lloyd Young, the love of her life passed away on June 25, 1991. Lloyd and Laura are survived by two daughters, Mitzi Cole and husband Larry of Lewisville, Texas, and Shannon Warren and husband David of Hennepin, Oklahoma, and one son Blain Young and wife Becky of Elmore City, Oklahoma. Laura cherished her five grandsons. They are Jacob Cole and wife Deeann of Robison, Texas, Braz Cole of Lewisville, Texas, Ethan Young of Elmore City, and Kaleb and Elijah Warren of Hennepin. Her one granddaughter is Charlsie Cole of Lewisville, Texas. Laura is also survived by three sisters, Zona White and husband Jim of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Wenona Dewberry, of Pauls Valley, and Vada Patterson of Elmore City, Oklahoma. She is survived by three brothers, Wayne Brown of Lamesa, Texas, James W. Brown of Austin, Texas, and Otha Brown and wife Veneda of Brownfield, Texas. Preceding her in death were two sisters and one brother. Visitation hours are scheduled at the Wooster Funeral Home in Elmore City from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011.
