Herbert Prince

Herbert C. Prince Jr. was born on March 17, 1945 to Herbert and Dortha Prince. Our wonderful family unit has been forever changed because of his sudden death. Herbert’s education began at Mt. Zion School and Satterwhite Elementary School. He attended Pernell High School where he excelled in academics and sports. He continued his education at the University of Central Oklahoma. Herb accepted Christ at an early age uniting with Salem Baptist Church in Hennepin, Oklahoma. He moved to Oklahoma City and united with Prospect Baptist Church and then he united with Antioch Institutional Baptist Church where he sang with the F.J. Choir for several years. After moving back to Elmore City he continued to be an active member of the F. J. Choir for special occasions. He reunited with Salem Baptist Church where he served as the treasurer until his sudden death. He united in holy matrimony and to this union three sons were born. Being the father that he was he felt it was necessary to return to the country to provide his boys with the same upbringing he received with the support of his parents. While residing in Oklahoma City Herb was employed with the Oklahoma Publishing Company, and Western Electric. He then moved back home where he was employed and retired from Halliburton after 26 years of service. He retired to work full time on the family farm. Herb’s hobbies were singing, playing the piano, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. He was the Vice President of the Prince Family Reunion for many Years. He was a sharp dresser and enjoyed looking good. Herb was called from labor to reward on December 23, 2010. He leaves three sons H. Calvin Prince III(Traci) , Donald A. Prince, and Sidney C. Prince( Shannon) , One brother Donald Prince, five sisters Carletta Pickens, Clister Mae Irby( Edward Sr.), Georgiaette Spivey, Dorthea Forshee, and LaTesha Prince. Nine grandchildren: Jordan, Cale, Sydney Paige, Toni, China, Princess, Tryce, Cortney, and Jezebel:, and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends , special friends, and cousins: Holmes, Kaye, Maxine, Dimple, James, Alma, Kasandra, Charles, Freida, and Vernice: to cherish his memory. Funeral services for Mr. Prince are scheduled for Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma.
