Flora Alice Potts

Flora Alice (Conley) Potts Bartmess of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, departed this life surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her throughout her years. She was born on March 5, 1928, in Fairport, Virginia, to Irving Edward Conley and Mattie (McNeale) Conley. While living in Virginia, Flora met the love of her life, Frank Potts, who was stationed there while serving in the United States Army. They were married on December 7, 1946, and together built a loving family. They were blessed with six children, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Later in life, Flora found love again with Curt Bartmess. They were married on April 9, 2012. Although their time together was shorter than they had hoped, they shared a deep love and found great happiness together. Flora was the epitome of strength, resilience, and independence. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life. As she became unable to attend church in person, she faithfully watched Jimmy Swaggart’s Sunday worship services on television, which became one of the highlights of her week. Nothing brought Flora greater joy than her family. She lovingly prepared Sunday dinners long after her children were grown, simply to keep the family gathered around her table. Christmas was always a treasured time, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. As the family continued to grow, they established a special annual celebration in her honor known as “Lil Mama–Grandma Flo’s Day.” Family members from near and far gathered to celebrate the remarkable woman she was. It quickly became her favorite day of the year, as she was surrounded by the love of generations of family whom she cherished with all her heart. Flora is survived by her son, Kenneth Potts of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; her daughter, Gina Hunt-Volino and her husband, Vince Volino, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and her four stepchildren: Curtis Bartmess Jr. and his wife, Caroline, of Colonial, Virginia; David Bartmess and his wife, Thelma, of Jacksonville, Florida; Sandra McKenzie and her husband, Jack, of Moore, Oklahoma; and Lonnie Bartmess and his wife, Shirley, of Ada, Oklahoma; Grandchildren; Frank Potts and wife Libby of Paoli, Oklahoma, Cindy Lynn and husband Gary of Stratford, Oklahoma, Janice Beasley and husband Billy of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Allen Potts and wife Lindsey of McLoud, Oklahoma, Ashley Churchwell and husband Bo of Dale, Oklahoma, Rita Neesmith and husband Jonathan of Vidalia, Georgia, Destiny Stanford and husband Derek of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, Cynthia Thompson and husband Trent of Elmore City, Oklahoma, David Potts and wife Christina of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and a host of other friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving Edward and Mattie McNeale Conley; her five siblings; her beloved husbands, Frank Potts and Curt Bartmess; her children, Flora Jean Potts, Brenda Sue Potts, Frank Potts Jr., and David Glenn Potts; her grandchildren, Charles Darron Potts, Sheldon Chase Hunt, Aaron Don Potts, Shelby Hunt, and Brandy Privitt; and her great-granddaughter, Trinity Kay Owen. Flora’s legacy lives on through the generations she loved so deeply. Her strength, unwavering faith, generous heart, and devotion to her family will never be forgotten. She leaves behind countless treasured memories and an example of a life well lived, well loved, and firmly rooted in faith. Services for Flora will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Paoli Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
