Dwight "Skip" Jones

Dwight “Skip” Jones of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Clayton and Alma (Dearman) Jones on December 28, 1944 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma and passed from this life on October 31, 2020 at the age of 75 years. Skip grew up in Elmore City, Oklahoma. He and his brothers spent lots of time swimming in the creek until the snakes showed up. He hauled lots of hay in the summers to make spending money. After graduating high school at Elmore City, he attended Oklahoma State University School of Technician Training. After school, Skip went to Texas and worked with Night Scope Manufacturing. He then came back to Oklahoma and started working for Texaco, as an electrician. In 1981, he started a business, Southside Electric. He was an oilfield electrical contractor serving our state with several employees. He continued this until his retirement. He then enjoyed working on the farms with the cattle and upkeep. Skip loved to hunt and fish, here at home and in Colorado. Early in his life he loved to noodle catfish. He enjoyed seeing others reap the harvest and always made sure the guys or gals had a good place to hunt and fish. The highlights of his life were his family, Lisa, Kerri, and Joshua. The most important thing he taught others about life was to work hard or play hard. He did whatever he did with everything he had. Skip was a man of order. He made plans and followed through with much detail, even until the last few days that he was here. He will be missed. Mr. Jones is survived by: Daughters: Lisa Renea Chapman and husband Dennis of Elmore City, Oklahoma Kerri Jones of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Brothers: Tony Jones and wife Tawana of Stratford, Oklahoma Larry Jones and wife Cheryl of Whitesboro, Texas Grandson: Joshua Lee Chapman and wife C’Ayra of Elmore City, Oklahoma Also a host of Special Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by: His wife: Pamela Jones in 2011 Parents: Clayton “Pete” and Alma Gearlden Jones Brothers: Mike Jones and Bruce Jones Sisters: Vickie Litke and Diann Stubblefield Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Elmore City Cemetery.
