Charlena Harrel

Charlena Ann Harrel was born on December 23, 1943 in Durant, Oklahoma to John Mayberry and Eileen (Workman) Mayberry. Charlena passed from this life on May 25, 2024 in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 80. Charlena's childhood days were spent in Elmore City, Oklahoma which is also where she graduated High School before attending two years at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Charlena was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elmore City and the Garvin County Library Board. Charlena married the love of her life, Johnny Harrel on June 29, 1962 in Elmore City, Oklahoma at the Methodist Church. After marriage she spent her career as a homemaker of their home and mother to their children. Charlena loved tending to her flower garden, cooking, reading, and she had an eye for design and color. She will be missed by all who knew her. Charlena is survived by her husband, Johnny Harrel of the home; Sons, Mark Harrel of Foster, Oklahoma, Chris Harrel and wife Andrea of Elmore City, Oklahoma; Daughters, Kelly Raley and husband Kent of Lantana, Texas, Holly Anderson and husband Nic of Foster, Oklahoma, Amy Layton and husband Chris of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Brother, Johnny Mayberry and wife Marilyn of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; Sister, Sherry Horton and husband Bill of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Brother in law, Joel Crawford of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sister in law, Helen Hicks and husband Buddy of Edmond, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Julie Garner and husband Matt of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jonathan Harrel and wife Kelsey of Purcell, Oklahoma, Jessica McMurtrey and husband Nash of Manvel, Texas, David Harrel and wife Felicia of Pernell, Oklahoma, Gabrielle Trinidad of Lantana, Texas, Patrick Anderson and wife Bethany of Bethany, Oklahoma, Jay Anderson and wife Hannah of Foster, Oklahoma, Christopher Anderson of Duncan, Oklahoma, Tyler Anderson of Foster, Oklahoma, Lorelei Layton and Maclsaac Layton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Great- Grandchildren, Parker, Jackie, and Samantha, Garner, Hayes Harrel, and arriving soon sister Rennie Lynn Harrel, Callahan and Carson McMurtrey, Easton and Lane Harrel, Reese and Indie Anderson, arriving soon Copper Jo Anderson; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Charlena is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eileen (Mayberry) Harrel; Sisters, Kay Holman and Latricia Crawford, and Brother in law, Gerald Harrel. A memorial service will be held on 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 and Thursday May 30, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day at Wooster Funeral Home in Elmore City. The family will personally receive condolences from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30th.
