Betty Sue Slawson

Betty Sue Slawson was born on October 30, 1939, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to Milbrey Hadden White and Roxie Mattie (Loper) White Kinard. She passed from this life on March 17, 2026, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Betty grew up with a deep love for family and simple joys. As a young girl, she enjoyed playing basketball, working alongside her family on the cotton farm, and spending time with her siblings playing cowboys and Indians. She attended McCarty Elementary School and later graduated from Elmore City High School in 1959. On November 6, 1960, Betty married the love of her life, Forrest Allen Slawson, at the First Christian Church in Pauls Valley, a church founded in part by her great-grandfather, John Hadden Ivy. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and home. Betty was a devoted homemaker and, over the years, also cared for others in need, offering kindness and compassion to many. She was a faithful member of Beaty Baptist Church and later Elmore City First Baptist Church, attending as long as her health allowed. She found great joy in quilting, garage sales, cooking, and tending to her yard at the home in Elmore City where she lived for 54 years. Later in life, she moved to Wynnewood to live with her daughter Janice and son-in-law Russell, where she continued to be surrounded by love and family. Above all, Betty’s greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication to those she held dear. Betty is survived by her daughter Janice Bivins and husband Russell of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; Granddaughter, Holly Nicole Smith; Great-Grandsons, Nicholas Landon Crouse and Zane Sheldon Smith; and a host of other family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Allen Slawson; Son, David Allen Slawson; Parents, Milbrey White and Roxie Kinard; Brothers, Roy Walton “Jim” White, DeWayne Milbrey White, and William Herman “Bill” White. Graveside services for Betty will be on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the Elmore City Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Balentine officiating. Visitation for Betty will be on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM at Wooster Funeral Home in Elmore City.
