Anna Mae Grimes

Anna Mae Grimes went to her heavenly reward on January 1, 2010 at the age of 91. Anna was born in Cherokee County, Oklahoma on February 26, 1918 to Almus Newton Rambo and Ida Ruth (Jones) Rambo. Anna married Mitchel Franklin Grimes on July 4th 1937 and they had four children, Sandra, Mitchel(Mickey), Patricia, and Ronnie. After the death of their oldest daughter Anna and Mitchel also raised three grandchildren, Karla, Robert and Jeffery. Anna retired from Pauls Valley State School after 26 years of service to the mentally and physically handicapped nursery patients. Anna was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Wynnewood, and served many years working with children in the nursery before moving to Springdale, Arkansas for the remainder of her years. Anna found great happiness in making delicious meals for her family. She also found time to sew most of their clothing and grow fresh vegetables in her garden. Anna always thought of others first, and sacrificed her own needs for those of her children and grandchildren. Following her Lord’s example, Anna demonstrated love to everyone throughout her life. Anna was known for great strength of character and was a strong woman who persevered against numerous hardships throughout her life. Anna is survived by her children Mickey and Linda Grimes of China, Texas, Patricia and Fred Pennington of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Ronnie and Sheri Grimes of Beaumont, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Karla and Bob Crawley of Newcastle, Robert and Recbecca Jablinske of Maysville and Jeff and Sheri Jablinske of Elmore City and six other grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Loumelia Patterson, Leoma Cowden, Theolia Mullins, and Tommye Crook and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Almus and Ida Rambo, husband Mitchel, daughter Sandra, son James, and great-grandchild Justin Chad. The family would like to especially thank Anna’s caregivers who were with her during her last years. The love Dovie Patterson, Debbie Burleson, Kay Jones, Pearline Parker and Cynthia Johnson showed Anna was greatly appreciated.
