AUBREY DARREL WOOLSEY February 10, 1923 – April 12, 2008 Aubrey Darrel (A.D.) Woolsey, born February 10, 1923, in Hamilton, Texas, to Willis Tolbert Woolsey and Annie Gertrude Devenport Woolsey, went home to the Lord, loved ones and friends on April 12, 2008. A devoted Christian, husband, father, uncle and grandfather, A.D. is survived by Sherry and her husband Laird McNeil and children Marcus and Allison; Jimmy and his wife Joanne Woolsey and children James Randall, Claire and Caroline; and Marlene and her husband Bob Summers and children David, Sherry and Mary Alyssa; sister-in-law Lucille Pope; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. After serving proudly in the U.S. Navy for seven years during World War II and the Korean War, during which he circled the globe more than three times, A.D. worked for the AMOCO (now British Petroleum) oil refinery in Texas City, Texas. Upon retirement, he moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where he resided for thirty years with his beloved wife, Mary Catherine Barbee Woolsey, who preceded him in death on December 17, 2004. He was also predeceased by his parents and his brother, Bernice Woolsey. A.D.’s passion was golf. His family and numerous friends knew that a conversation would quickly turn to his favorite subject. A very wise and insightful man, A.D. punctuated his life lessons learned in the Navy and on the golf course with his quick wit and humor. Guided by his strong faith in the Lord, A.D. always had a positive, uplifting attitude in every situation and a kind word for everyone. Everyone who met A.D. instantly fell in love with him, and he will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Funeral services will be conducted at the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, with Glenn Murray, Gene Smith, Bob Summers and Laird McNeil serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in White Rose Cemetery in Reydon, Oklahoma. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 15, 2007, at the Wooster Funeral Home. The family especially thanks Katy Land, the staff of The Willows Assisted Living, Dr. Steven Moore, Brenda Wade, and the Pauls Valley General Hospital, for their kindness, care, concern and support over the years. The family also extends their gratitude for the numerous friends in Pauls Valley.
