Vicki Jo Kirby

Vicki Jo Kirby was born on November 23, 1947 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Alfred William Gray and LaVerta Edna (Taylor) Gray but was raised by her step father Clay Dockray after Alfred’s passing. Vicki passed from this life on May 5, 2023 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Growing up she loved playing with her cousins and pestering her older sister. Vicki married her lifelong partner Robert Dale Kirby on September 2, 1967 in Pauls Valley at The First Baptist Church. She taught at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf and also in Sulphur in their Special Education Department; after that she became an owner of a daycare called Kinder Kollege for eight years. She received her Bachelor’s degree from East Central University in 1989 where she then went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in Child Welfare social work for twelve years as a Certified Sexual Abuse Investigator until her retirement in 2005. Vicki was a proud member of Trinity Baptist Church and also loved attending Joyce Tolbert’s Koinonia Class. In her spare time Vicki loved to do crafts and showing her love to others through gifts and her time. Vicki loved taking photographs of weddings and family reunions. Family was everything to Vicki and she loved doing anything with her husband Robert. Robert said that Vicki was the kindest person he had ever known. She was very giving of her time and was very accepting of others. The most important thing to her was instilling family values. She will be missed by so many. Vicki is survived by her husband Robert Dale Kirby of the home; her daughter Tara Kirby of Edmond, Oklahoma; her grandson Zakry Kirby of Edmond, Oklahoma; and sister Carolyn Hamby and family of Houston, Texas. Vicki is preceded in death by her parents Alfred Gray (1946) and Laverta Tayl (2003) and Stepfather, Clay Dockray (1995); sons, Robert “Jason” Kirby (2018); daughter, Staci Leigh Kirby (1968); nephew, Bart Hamby; and brother-in-law, Bill Hamby. Memorial Services for Vicki will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 10:00 A.M at Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma with Dwayne Johnson and Terry Mott officiating. Memorial Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
