Shirley Myrtle Miller (Walker)

Shirley Myrtle Miller (Walker) was born on May 4, 1942 in Bowlegs, Oklahoma to William Martin Walker and Clara Cleo Walker (Thorn). Shirley passed from this life on August 18, 2023 in Norman, Oklahoma surrounded by those who loved her. Shirley attended school at Bowlegs High School and then went to El Reno Junior College where she received education in Financial Management. Shirley married the love of her life Ralph Earl Miller on December 24, 1970, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and they were married until his passing in September of 2020. During her marriage to Ralph Miller, she had a career as a manager at McDonald’s, was a financial advisor at Money Concepts and then ran the office to the family-owned business Miller Electric. Shirley loved to garden, cook, sew, go gaming, and she loved the sound of chaos. She also enjoyed collecting things and even had a button jar where she kept numerous buttons she would use over the years. She loved drinking coffee on her back porch in her rocking chair and visiting with whatever company was there. She always had something for the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids to do when they came over, things like battery operated cars, the trampoline, ATV’s and a long list of other things. Family was the most important thing to her. It didn’t matter what she was doing or where they were at as long as she had some family there she was okay, and she always had them over and had a big part in raising Harrison, Parker, and Brenden. Shirley also enjoyed cooking and it was said that she made the best hot yeast rolls and fried chicken and country gravy, and you would be sure to have some sort of sweet treat waiting on you after you finished your meal, and banana bread was one of them. If you were still hungry after all that, Shirley always made sure that whatever bacon or sausage was left over, you could snack on it throughout the entire day if you wanted to. Shirley is survived by her daughters; LeeAnn Miller of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Lisa Palmgren of Madill, Oklahoma and Laura Lilly of Mustang, Oklahoma; sister Betty Faye Coley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tyler Bennett and wife Danielle of Center, Colorado, Summer Bennett and fiancé Jack Eastman of Texas, Ethan Palmgren and fiancé Victoria Skinner of Madill, Oklahoma, Dillon Palmgren of Colorado, Avery Palmgren of Colorado, Brittany Cass of Edmond, Oklahoma, Joseph Cass and wife Veronica of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Courtney Izaguirre of Mustang, Oklahoma, Harrison Mainard of California, Parker Mainard of Texas, Brenden Mainard of Hennessey, Oklahoma, and Emma Lee Miller of Newcastle, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Jameson and Audie Bennett of Center, Colorado, Tanner and Teegan Cruz of Edmond, Oklahoma, Khloe and Charlotte Cass of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bryley Nelson of Mustang, Oklahoma, and McKinley, Hailey, and Walker Izaguirre of Mustang, Oklahoma. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, William Martin Walker and Clara Cleo Walker (Thorn), her beloved husband, Ralph Earl Miller, and her brother, Billy Ray Walker. Services for Shirley will be Friday, August 25, 2023, at OKC Bethesda Church at 11:30 a.m. under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Visitation will be public on August 23, 2023 with family to accept friends and family on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Wooster Funeral Home in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
