Dorothy Joan Schnorrenberg

Dorothy Joan Schnorrenberg passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 82. She was born on September 24, 1928 in Wetumka, Oklahoma, first child of Norma and Adrin Burrus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Port Schnorrenberg, infant sons, David Port Schnorrenberg, and William Todd Schnorrenberg, and Sisters Linda Evans, and Mary Kiefer. She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Jim and Gwen Schnorrenberg, of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Christy and Alan Cody, of Fort Worth, Texas. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren – Scott Schnorrenberg, and wife, Amy, of Huntsville, Alabama; Nathan Schnorrenberg, and wife, Tiffany, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Zachary Schnorrenberg, and wife, Staci, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Joanna Reeder of Dallas, Texas and Tommy Reeder of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and 4 great-grandchildren: Noah, Sophie, Kate, and Samuel Schnorrenberg, with one on the way. She is survived by two sisters, Lea Billington, of Houston, Texas, and Sue Knight, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and one aunt, Alma Grissom of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma, and married Port Schnorrenberg on September 12, 1948. They made their home in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where they were active members of the Pauls Valley Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school, led ladies Bible studies, and served in so many ways to reach people with the love of Christ. She owned and operated Joann’s Fabrics, as well as assisted her husband, Port, in his business. Joan was extremely active in promoting and supporting her town. She was an integral member of the team to develop the Pauls Valley Depot and served as a docent at the depot museum. Joan loved to bake and share her cookies with friends. She loved to travel, read, walk, sing, and spend time with her family. She was the best mother and wife anyone could have, and lived a full life, with no regrets. She has now received her reward, and has entered into eternal life with her Lord and her loving husband, Port. Funeral Services for Mrs. Schnorrenberg will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 10:30 a.m. at the Pauls Valley Church of Christ, Minister Roy Shave officiating. She will be buried next to her beloved husband and infant babies at the cemetery in Warren, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
