C. M. "Rob" Robbins

Cadmus Monroe “Rob” Robbins was born on June 25, 1921 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to William A. and Mattie (Davis) Robbins and passed from this life on February 25, 2009 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years. Rob grew up in the Purdy community and attended school at Oak Grove. He left home at a young age to go to Civilian Conservation Corps – an opportunity during the depression for young men to work in Colorado and send money home to their families. When World War II broke out, he joined the Navy in 1943 and served on the U.S.S. Shenandoah as Pharmacist, 2nd class from 1943 to 1945. Robbins was cited with many honors during his service to the United States. On December 31, 1944 while on leave from service, he married Ruth Hart in Oklahoma City. He studied his life- long profession while in the Navy and moved to Pauls Valley in 1949. He was a registered medical technologist and x-ray technician at the Pauls Valley General Hospital until he retired in 1987. Mr. Robbins was a Scout Master for five years, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Rotary clubs. Both he and his wife, Ruth were Life Masters of the American Contract Bridge League. He served as a board member for the Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of the board of directors for the Pauls Valley Civic Center. He served as chairman of the Blood Bank Committee and was a board member on the Red River Regional Blood Bank of Wichita Falls, Texas. Robbins was elected to the city council on April 3, 1985. He served as mayor of Pauls Valley from May 1991 until his resignation from the council on April 6, 1994. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and served on the Board of Deacons. Mr. Robbins enjoyed collecting Indian arrowheads. Over the years, farmers would call him when they happened to plow up arrowheads in their fields. He had quite a collection of arrowheads and Indian artifacts. Mr. Robbins is survived by: Son – Lloyd Robbins and his wife, Gayle of Pauls Valley Daughter – Carolyn Peters and her husband, Tom of Grapeland, Texas 2 Brothers – Phindle Robbins of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Bill Robbins of Lexington 2 Sisters – Teka Johnston of Moore, Oklahoma and Shirley Perez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 6 – Grandchildren – Mike Fleming of Atlanta, Georgia; Mark Fleming of Houston, Texas; Scott Robbins and wife, Shelly of Pauls Valley; Angela Baker and husband, Kevin of Pauls Valley; Christi Robbins and Justin Robbins of Pauls Valley 5 Great-Grandchildren – Kylee, Kelsey, and Hannah Robbins; Chad and Devin Baker 2 Great-Great -Grandchildren - Mason & Tanner Mr. Robbins is preceded in death by his parents, William & Mattie Robbins and his wife, Ruth Robbins. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P. O. Box 8462, Chicago, IL 60680-8462 Funeral services for Rob Robbins of Pauls Valley are scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the 1st Presbyterian Church of Pauls Valley with Rev.
